As we sit on the first day of January 2014, many of us are thinking about what we would like to DO this coming year. We plan our diets, our exercise regimes, our hobbies we've neglected, that friend that we kept meaning to call...
New Years is a time of reflection for most of us. Perhaps a time with a bit of pressure...
I was thinking about this myself today, thinking about what I would/should/could be doing this coming year. What would I put on my DO list for this coming year.
As I pondered, my mind started rolling a different thought around. As I chewed on it, I started feeling encouraged and felt a sense of joy filling me!
The idea was a DONE list, and not a "what got done last year" kind of list either. I was thinking eternal-perspective-DONE-list. What were the things that God had already done for me?
God's DONE list.
1. God made me unique and special (Psalm 139:13-16)
2. God made me with a plan and a purpose in mind (Jeremiah 29:11)
3. God made a way for me to have a real life relationship with him through the life of Jesus (John 14:6, Revelation 3:20)
There are many additional things that could be on that DONE list, but those three are a good place to start.
As I move into this exciting new year of 2014, I want to think on what I want to DO, but I want to frame all of it in the context of knowing and appreciating what has been DONE for me already.
My prayer is that as you move into this New Year, you too would consider spending some time reflecting on the truths of what God has DONE for you !
I pray that it brings you much peace, hope and joy.
Happy New Year !!

ReplyDeleteGreat
ReplyDeleteMy first impression when I began was, oh no not another list. But then I began to read it. I am very impressed with what you have listed and see that it is profound and not mind-list like so many New Years eve resolutions. Great job!
ReplyDeleteKnowing who we belong to allows us to become fully who we are.
ReplyDeleteI really love your writing, I find it very inspiring & yet so simple to apply
ReplyDeleteThis is a very innovative way of thinking. I think we should do this list every month or two, to motivate us and keep us un track on what was on our new year resolution list; list that we should build at the beginning and revisit/adapt over time.
ReplyDeleteLove it you blog writing, I wish you Happy New Year
ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteGreat Post !
